What if Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Sucks

I, like most people, am excited for the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, while at the same time crossing my fingers that it will be good. So when Hitfix.com rumored that people who have seen the film were not pleased by it, this definitely made Warner Brother and DC fans panic. While this is all speculation, what if Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice turns out to be a bad film? What would that say about how the DC cinematic universe is being handled? How can they release a future franchise when they cannot even make a successful film with two of the most popular superheroes of all time? From another perspective, even if the film turns out to be just "ok," will fans consider it a failure because it did not live up to it’s emissive hype?

  • Of course it will suck because no one can top Christian Bale's portrayal of Batman. He was the best Batman and his Batman movies were the best. Maybe that could be a topic. Who was the best Batman??? – Munjeera 8 years ago

  • These types of movies that combine two or three popular characters are a bit tricky to estimate their success, because each character may have their own audience. At the same time, the appeal of mix characters is also there. We need to keep in mind that measuring the success of such films or any film for that matter that involves beloved characters does not depend on the opinion of critics alone, but rather on how fans perceive them to be. Although it is common that people may refrain from watching a film that did not have immediate box office success or did not receive positive reviews, there are those moviegoers that trust their own taste because of their love and loyalty to certain characters. In such cases, the film may not have immediate success, but in the long run keeps its numbers in tact. – Arazoo Ferozan 8 years ago

  • This could be a real interesting piece if you framed it as DC's other options. Their big cinematic break goes bust--okay. (Although they do have Wonderwoman planned, and Suicide Squad looks like it may be successful.) What other avenues are there? They've made inroads with live-action TV series (crosses fingers for YJ season 3) and are known for gritty animated films. Batman video games are kicking butt. Maybe they'll just have a different game to play than Marvel. – IndiLeigh 8 years ago

  • I'm closing this one down given that the movie has already been released. – Misagh 8 years ago
