Why the Chinese movie Wolf Warrior II have witnessed great success in such a comparative low budget?

Analyse why the new Chinese movie Wolf Warrior II have witnessed great success in such a comparative low budget?
And also, what is the advice for making national cinema to go internationally competitive in the Hollywood context? Would big budget or cooperation with Hollywood crew be a must?

    • It would be interesting to expand this topic to include examples of other medium-to-low budget Oriental films that have had great success globally and, perhaps what impact or influence these may have had on Western film makers. I confess I haven't seen Wolf Warrior II, so I'll put it on my 'to watch' list. Also worth addressing is whether there is actually a need to compete with Hollywood when domestic audiences in China or South Korea for example do engage with their domestic film makers enthusiastically. – Amyus 3 years ago

Post-modernism embraces abstract ideas of creation rather than the concert expression (lines and patterns) of the artistic forms…I somewhat agree with what Danto’s said that “art is dead after 1964”. Post modern arts are chaotic and discrete, or maybe it’s just too hard for me to get to the point…..

A great article!! I borrowed Hero with a thousand faces but haven’t got the chance to finish it. I found this article well-analyzes Joseph Campell’s ideas in terms of how mythology works as a universal social thing and how it reflects and used in Hollywood superhero context. Very clear and neat writing!!

I enjoy watching Black mirror series as both entertainment and looking through the black mirror of humanity. Notwithstanding the depiction and advocacy of the “dark” sub culture, I found it offers us many new lens in rethinking culture ritual and social rules.
