Castlevania: Reinventing Video Game Adaptations

It’s an ongoing joke that all video game adaptations are universally derided. However, Warren Ellis’ Netflix series Castlevania proves to be the exception to that rule. Might the success of this adaption of a relatively obscure 80s Nintendo game see a video game adaptation renaissance? Could we see edgy, animated interpretations of Ninja Gaiden, Contra, and Mega Man as well? Moreover, could tv be the underestimated holy grail for excellence in adaptations of games?
