The current television and music industries glorify and, therefore, promote acts of self-hatred, whereas personal narratives of recovered victims of self-hate desensitize the issue, revealing the importance of recovery over celebrity.

I would recommend using specific, concrete language and working on expressing your ideas clearly. Don't say things in a way that you think makes you sound smart. The result often doesn't make a whole lot of sense, even to a highly educated reader. "The ramifications of existing within the guardrails of bias" sound like a lot of hot air.
