Star Trek Philosophy

Was Gene Roddenberry’s idea for a world without hunger, greed or malice achievable? If so how closely should we strive for a world even similar to this fiction? Roddenberry isn’t known for being a kind man especially to women both in his writing and on set, this should factor into the critique of his idealistic view of humanities potential.

Maybe most importantly: are we on the right path to reach this stage of enlightenment? When will we get there? What obstacles still stand in our way?
