Why Lin Manuel Miranda is the next Shakespeare

We all know the bard for his wiley wordplay and clever puns, but many people fail to recognise the musical quality of Shakespeare’s work. Consider Lin Manuel Miranda; the man is a modern-day lyrical genius, prolific in his production of poetic paeans. I argue that Miranda’s wordplay and musical prowess – specifically in his seminal musical “Hamilton”, but also in the rest of his work – puts him in the same category as Shakespeare, and if he manages to keep producing at the same level as he is right now, he will be known that way for years to come.
