How much content can the world produce before we run out?

The world is filled with writing pieces, pieces of art, storylines and more. It seems that there is a constant flow of newly generated content. The question is: will there be an end? How much content can be created before there are no more ideas to draw from?

  • This is essentially "Will ideas ever run out?". I feel like that's too broad of a question, and any musings on it can't be legitimized or even debated? I would recommend an edit, but I'm just not sure what to recommend. – m-cubed 7 years ago

  • The ideas of most "classic" literature, and even of what we consider good art now, are based off of similar themes. Universal themes of love, hate, the meaning of life, etc. are often looked at by many artists. I'm not sure content will ever run out because the topics are constantly being revised to fit an individual artists' personality/style. I think the question here isn't about when will content cease as much as will these topics ever cease to appeal to a broad audience. – DKWeber 7 years ago

  • I don't believe there is such a thing as originality, after all who doesn't draw ideas from other sources. Therefore, even if things may seem a bit redundant, anything "new" is simply a format of the "old". There will always be ideas to draw from its just a simple matter of figuring out the style of the subject. – RadosianStar 7 years ago

  • I do believe we ran out of topics many years ago. That is why there are so many remakes using the latest tech. – Munjeera 7 years ago

  • People tend to form ideas from already existing ideas. Just look at all the Hunger Games knock-off novels that popped up after the success of the original. And Hunger Games wasn't even the first! It was inspired by something that was inspired by something else. – Sofa12 7 years ago
