This is really interesting and I think it's important to pinpoint just when the portrayal changed so drastically from being sexual to being viewed as as a threat. I think an important aspect is also the Islamophobia in the western world even though not all Arabs are Muslim and not all Muslims are Arabs. We know that is not the case, but in the post 9/11 world, many are quick to jump to conclusions and I think that way of thinking is very much present and reflected in film. – siddamna9 years ago
