Definitely was looking for the Realta nua ending.. I was so disappointed with DEEN not doing that. One of the bigger flaws of the adaptation of Fate/Stay Night, aside from the ones everyone else mentioned :/ As a standalone, the anime adaptation is good, but when put next to the VN, it’s just not a comparison. | Fate/Stay Night: Setting Up for a Decade of Quality Success |
Have you ever read Noam Chomsky’s “Manufacturing Consent”? It’s an interesting read, and definitely applies here. It allows reader to get a look at the inner workings of what kind of media is “bad media”, but that’s oversimplifying to the extent of being wrong. If you’re interested in this kind of stuff, I’d definitely give him a shot. Great article! | Devil May Cry and Fahrenheit 451: A Contemporary Look at Media Control |
I’m glad you enjoyed the article! I hope I can churn out some more stuff along these lines in the future. I just wanted to point out that I’m making points based on what I see in the novels, which may or may not reflect my own personal views. Nor am I really try to convince anyone; like you said, it’s just a fun little piece that throws together some information from a book I enjoyed as a kid. I’m always looking to improve. Your comment makes me wonder what elementary school girls read 😛 . I’m glad you enjoyed the article! It’s really interesting how age changes how one looks at things. | Captain Underpants as a Critique of the Public School System |
It’s worth a re-read if you can handle the scat, urine, and all porcelain bowl related humor 🙂 Relive those glory days! | Captain Underpants as a Critique of the Public School System |
Thanks for reading the article! I completely agree that it’s mostly the administration and bureaucracy that dictates the seemingly disconnected attitude of teachers, and I actually wrote a whole thing on how Pilkey explores this, but I couldn’t find a way to integrate it into the essay as whole while keeping the length at an appropriate length. You could try to explore that; it’d be a really cool follow up! | Captain Underpants as a Critique of the Public School System |
My mom actually took my books away after I read them for the umpteenth time. Is it still a banned book? That really surprises me. | Captain Underpants as a Critique of the Public School System |
Hey there! All very cool things you mentioned. The only thing I have to say is that you’re misinterpreting what being a tragic hero means. I’m going by Aristotle’s definition of a dramatic tragic hero, not a tragic hero in the literal sense of the term.
