Misrepresentation of Asians in Western cultureMost of the time, Asians are portrayed as one of the four: Chinese, Japanese, Indian, and Korean. This leads to inevitably neglecting other Asian nationalities as those from Southeast Asia (i.e. people from Thailand, Malaysia, and/or Philippines look very different from the first four nationalities cited, and are somehow unrepresented/do not have enough representation)

I really liked the article. I honestly think that social media as a venue for interaction between creators and fans is terrific, but as in any other thing, moderation is the key. Too much offense or too little defense from either side is always bound to result in complications. | #Faninteraction: Social Media and Representation in Popular Television |
The fact that mental illness is presently being given more representation in the ‘mainstream’ literature, is something noteworthy. But, like what was suggested in an earlier comment, perhaps a more ‘proper’ way to represent it is to frame it as it actually is: one aspect of a person’s whole, not a defining factor; a health issue, not a flaw in one’s personality. | Mental Illness in YA: Rehabilitating Sick-Lit |
Very interesting read. I’ve always liked how profound Breaking Bad is. The mysteries behind the show’s symbolism were perhaps its greatest appeal. Thank you for such an extensive discussion.
