I’m sorry that his essay didn’t appeal to you. Hyperreality isn’t for everyone. Because the idea of it is so abstract, many don’t see the meaning or importance of it. His essay on hyperreality specifically delves in deep to a lot of landscapes in America, but perhaps he could be more clear in his addressing of the hyperreal. Criticism is an important aspect when reading Eco and sometimes I get lost in his words and don’t critique the content!
