In the past, we had little option but to wait for ‘next week’s instalment’ to continue our viewing process of a favourite TV series. Now, in many cases, we can watch an entire series back-to-back. How has this changed the nature of the narrative and the need for the cliffhanger ending to bring the viewer back a week later and, at the end of a season, a year later?
