With this kind of topic you’re never going to be able to cater for everybody – individual tastes differ too much, but you’ve covered a wide variety of genres which is good. My only problem is: where are all the female characters? There are certainly plenty of starring and supporting roles to choose from in the likes of Game of Thrones, and I feel this list would definitely benefit from a more equal balance of male and female.

This was one of my favourite television programmes for almost the entire time it ran, however, I couldn’t help but be bitterly disappointed with the ending of the fifth series. There were a number of things I think the writers and producers could have chosen to do differently, (the magic reveal and Morgana’s death being two examples) and these changes would have given the show the stronger ending it deserved.

I agree with your decision to place Merlin in the number 1 spot – he was the programme’s protagonist, and Colin Morgan really flourished as an actor playing the role. Did you consider perhaps having two spots for Mordred? One for the younger and one for the adult? While I thought the use of him as a young boy was a clever addition to the sub-plot, I preferred his adult character because he carried the weight of villainy much better and posed a real threat to Camelot.

A great review and an enjoyable read. I like the variety of different aspects of the film you cover, particularly character and plot. The mention of the advancement in animation was interesting, as was the 3D comment. I tend to find that while animated films are indeed enjoyable in 3D, it’s not completely vital for the viewing. Can’t wait to see this film.

An informative and nuanced take on the Youtube generation, great article. I particularly like that you addressed Becoming Youtube, and there’s probably more to say on that, but it’s such an interesting topic that it could make a new article in itself. You covered lots of different YouTubers here and gave a good depth of topic. Nice job!

Cooking with Dog is certainly an unusual name for an unusual Youtuber. I knew of cooking channels on youtube and recipe videos, but I didn’t realise that these Japanese ones were so accessible. Thanks for an informative article, I’d like to have a go at making some of these. 🙂

You’ve got some really interesting choices here, and I like the fact that you chose women from a diverse range of films, showing that they don’t have to hail from the action genre to be classified as ‘badass’. I particularly liked your inclusion of animated female characters; while they may be seen as less realistic, their characters are still perfectly capable of being badass in one way or another.

As you’ve mentioned, the trailer really seems to benefit from beginning by showing us clips from his childhood. By constructing it this way, it seems to nicely avoid the trap of ‘giving the whole film away’ by showing too much footage of crucial moments, and allowing the audience to inevitably guess the plot. I also like the fact that we’re only given one clip of Superman and Lois together, but as it’s one of the final scenes of the trailer it remains poignantly an the fore of our minds. The blackouts between each scene mean that we’re given enough to excite us, but each clip remains enjoyably abstract so that not too much is revealed.
