How has the integration of MMA affected the mystical martial artist superhero?

Look at how films like John Wick, Kickboxer Vengence and potentially films like the Bourne series or Taken have taken the more modern approach to fight scenes, but still integrate the mystical or ‘unknowable’ martial artist that make the protagonist a superhero. How have these films shifted in the last 30 years? Are the protagonists existing in a superpower zone or more in reality than classic martial arts films?

In regards to the 3DS, I had one for a few years and think I only used the 3d function a couple of times. It always seemed to get in the way of the gaming experience. Good on Nintendo to find a way to work their warnings into the games. I like the idea that it’s a choice to step out, but this is an ongoing debate about the best way to manage screen time. Personally I can never do more than about an hour in one sitting.

I’m grateful to have a context for a lot of these songs outside of stranger things. I love the show and the Metallica is a great example of it’s connecting me to music I wasn’t too familiar with. Also, the Peter Gabriel ‘Heroes’, which I’d not heard before. In my experience the pin drop timing is typically excellent throughout the series. So much so that I’ve got most of the seasons on vinyl now and plan to get the rest. Have played the original soundtrack at a couple of DND sessions and it fits… very well.

How Stranger Things' Most Important Licensed Songs Compliment Its Story

It’s tough to think that both films lean heavily on the superiority of their armed forces. Back in the 1980s that advantage may have been more technological and in the present they are driving for the edge to be more in the ‘heart’ department. Easily achieved when the enemy are presented as automatons (in both films) wearing their sun visors down. The US Navy recruiting stations surely enjoyed their boost – maybe we should hope that everyone gets good at logistics and engineering while they serve, rather than having to actually go into combat.
