Videogames are my forte. I've been playing them for 17 years and writing about them professionally for four! I'm also a huge sci-fi lit fan, and I dabble in everything else.

Well, I think the closest thing to that is definitely A Link Between Worlds. I agree that the next LoZ game would be cool if it was like the old school games, but I doubt that’ll happen unfortunately. Still, 3DS is a lot cheaper than a Wii U (and has waaaay better games).

Same here. What’s funny is that, when I found out it was a Tom Clancy game before seeing the demo, I didn’t get what the big deal was. I spent the whole show kind of shrugging every time someone freaked out about it. But it was the last thing I saw on the last day, and I’m so glad I did. That game looks amazing!

Aside from Ryse, I agree with all the games on this list (though I was surprised to see Destiny so low!). I got my hands on it at E3 and it just looked like a hack-and-slash game dumbed-down to QTEs. The demo certainly was not hard at any rate, and while they haven’t shared a lot about commanding your troops with the kinect, I’m skeptical.

However, every other game on here looked/played great!

Bluh, yeah, I just heard about that. I just feel that if they don’t give us an answer now, they’re going to be in trouble come release time. This is the biggest stage they’re going to get, and if their core audience isn’t sold this late in the game, they’ll have an up-hill battle to fight.

First off, let me put the fact that I’m a writer (the author kind) on the table where we can all see it. Second, though it kills me to say it, I think you’re right in that narrative is secondary for videogames. If the game plays like crap or is a bunch of QTEs (those are awful), then it’s not much of a game. It’s an annoying movie that you can’t finish without pressing a button every once and a while.

That being said, I don’t think that narrative ever…DETRACTS from a game. I’m trying really hard and I can’t think of a time when a good story did anything bad. And the reason DmC wasn’t as well received wasn’t because of the story, per say, but rather because of the simplified game play, as you said!

So, while I can appreciate a game without an engaging story, I would always PREFER it to have one. Now, I don’t want that story to get in the way of the game itself, but if the devs did a good job, I certainly won’t complain about it!

But this was a good article and great point of discussion! Good job brotha!

Agreed -____- That, or that they’d make one that was actually fun and didn’t mean getting your ass kicked by people who play for days straight and know all the stupid spots to hide and you never manage to kill anyone and then you cr—

I mean, yeah, COD is lame now!

Aww, do they really? I was planning on going this year, so I guess I’d find out myself soon enough. But I was hoping they’d at least stay true!
