The Marvelous Mrs.Maisel, and why its good

Write about "The Marvelous Mrs.Maisel", why its good, and why it should be watched. A relatively simple story, featuring a woman going against what was expected of her at that time, how she struggles against the norms and how she is trying to be independent at a time when women were expected to be accessories to their husbands.

    • I haven't seen the TV series to have a solid opinion on it, but I think the better way to approach this topic is avoiding writing "because it's good" "because it should be watched", this doesn't contribute to how it can be written and give any ideas for others to write on the article. My suggestion is to instead aim to look for what it did right and how it succeeded in what it touched on with its subjects, which as from what it describes, can offer a lot in its topic. – N.D. • An excellent short series. Beyond the pitfalls of becoming a stand-up comic is the lead character's family, Lenny Bruce, and the story development. I was hoping for more. – Joseph Cernik 6 years ago

I will never forgive M Night Shyamalan for rining Avatar: The Last Airbender in its movie adaptation. Avatar: The Last Airbender may just be the best
animated series ever created. It has an amazingly intricate plot, good representation of diversity and brilliant character development. If he is struggling as a filmmaker, he deserves it. He was given a beautiful script on a silver platter. All he had to do was create a live-action adaptation faithful to the characters and the plot. If he can’t even do that, I don; see how he can do well with original screenplays.

The Rise and Fall of M. Night Shyamalan

For a beginner, I would never recommend a long epic-style series like Naruto, One Piece, Bleach or Fairytale. It takes a while to get used to the style of narration in anime, and in these, it takes a while to get to the climax of the plot. I made the mistake of recommending Bleach as a starter anime to a friend. She loved it initially but soon grew bored of it because it takes a while to get to the point. We don’t want people to think anime is boring do we! Some other gateway anime that weren’t mentioned here :
    1) Tokyo Ghoul; Gory and fast-paced, this will surely absorb viewers who are interested in dark fantasy and action.
    2) Shigatsu wa kimi no uso: This one is for the music lovers.
3)Kaichou wa Maid-sama!: For the ones who love rom-coms.
    4) Erased: Similar to death note, htis one can attract the ones who love mysteries and thrillers

Anime for Dummies: What Starters Should Watch

I agree with so much of what was written in this article! I have created a picture of Japan in my head from all the anime I have watched, where it is a land of rich culture, tradition combined with a lot of crime, violence, and sex. A few more points I would like to add:
    1) Over- Sexualisation of Women: In my younger years, I believed that Japan is a country filled with men whose sole purpose is to have sex with as many women as possible and that women in Japan are all big breasted beauties. However, I have since discovered that there is more than just one form of beauty.
    2) Misogynistic society: In most anime, women are depicted as side characters, who are weak and need the help of the male protagonist to succeed. With lines like “But you’re a girl!” or ” How typical of a woman” casually thrown around, it appears as though Japan is a country steeped in misogyny and unfair standards for gender. Also, the abundance of schoolgirls in short skirts, perverted old male characters and maid cafes make me feel as though objectification of women is something quite common in Japan,

However, these are just things I’ve gathered from watching anime or reading manga. It need not be a true reflection of Japanese society.
