The Underlining Theme of Family in 'A Quiet Place'Although 'A Quiet Plan' is heavily advertised as a horror/thriller movie, there are definitely underlining themes of family and what family is willing to do for one another. Not only does the love of family truly shine in this film, but it also shows how strong a family can be when their life is on the line everyday.

Bird Box: Adapting from Debut Novel to Silver Screen | |
Living in Canada, Netflix has a great amount less of content than in the United States. Although I like Netflix, it’s hard to find something worth watching once I pretty much watched all of my interests. On a business perspective, it was a great idea to embrace streaming shows and movies instead of hating it like a couple of years ago. Netflix will just continue to grow and I just hope Netflix Canada can add as much as the American Netflix | Netflix and Impact |
I completely agree! The fact that there are so many movie remakes, it removes the need to spend half an hour to an hour giving the audience an origin of the character. Of course, new ideas and characters that have yet to be shown deserve a back story. With this being said, as the essay states, it would be just as effective to show flashbacks or splices of life instead of a full origin. | Origin Stories: Do we need them? |
This was a very in depth essay and I appreciated the way that you compared many different interpretations of Thor and the theme among all of them. I adore the movie Thor and this essay has given me so much more knowledge about the origin of Thor and where the 2011 movie got its inspiration. Thank you! | Thor's Worthiness to Wield the Hammer |
I agree that the novel provided a much more chilling atmosphere overall, and although it was better, the movie did have those chilling moments too. This including the unknown of places, people and the “monsters”, and how anything could have happened at any point in the movie. If you compare it with “A Quiet Place”, for example, the lack of noise in that movie had a huge impact on the overall horror/thriller theme. If Bird Box were to take the approach of actual complete darkness in some scenes, the viewer would get the true sense of ‘unknown’ and horror. This would add a connection between the viewer and what the character is going through, adding a realistic element. This alone would have increased the fear that this situation could happen in the real world one day.
