I think that indie games are especially good at hitting you in the feels, since they can choose to focus so much energy on storytelling and character development.

The endings for To The Moon and the Banner Saga destroyed me, especially since you spend the game bonding with each of the characters.

I agree to a certain extent, but let’s face it- some of the most revealing costumes are simply not comfortable or valuable as armor. You don’t necessarily need to cover everything up, but it would be nice to see artists try for a touch more realism seen in the male heroes’ costumes.

How about Doreen Green from the current run of Unbeatable Squirrel Girl? She’s pretty, but not super skinny and a relatively awkward college student.

Personally, I started out with Fruits Baskets, another slice-of-life shojo anime with complex character development. Not long after I finished the series, however, I started on Ouran High School Host Club.

However, one drawback the article neglects about Ouran is that the show is a deconstructive criticism of the shojo or romantic comedy genre. This means that much of the comedy that focuses on satirizing romantic tropes will go over the head of someone watching anime for the first time.
