Digimon will always hold a special place in my heart because the writing was witty. I remember watching Digimon Adventure up to Frontier as a youth. But I started to feel such a disconnect, maybe some of it age, but mostly because the concept and interaction between human and Digimon became way too different. After so many modifications you hope to see a return to the original recipe. At least, I do. I can always go back and enjoy the Digimon movie for the soundtrack and writing (the 4Kids TV version….though it WAS a mashup of 3 movies, it’s a fond childhood memory.)

The Corpse Bride is a movie I’ll never forget. The music and characters were enjoyable. It is layered with feelings, many in the sense of manipulation, but also looking beyond the surface to find love. And probably one of the best comments I’ve seen on a Youtube video for the Remains of the Day was about whether or not Emily’s parents knew she was dead. If they believed she was living life with Lord Barkis, never to see their daughter again, only for her to have died that same night. I thought the ending was beautiful when family was reunited with deceased loved ones and Emily was freed. It’s a very good take on the contrasts in life and death, fulfillment and sacrifice.

I love this show, and I think it’s great to look at at this perspective. The chemistry between the family draws you in without being blatant or saying “look at us, we love each other.” They understand each other to the fullest extent. It kind of reminds me of The Addams Family and how everyone was tolerant of each other’s differences and ambitions. Writing fulfilled characters isn’t common anymore and writers tend to rely on shock value. We get 1 or 2 episodes a season with Family Guy that try to establish a deeper connection with the viewer and convey a message. But that is way to far and few between.

I’m kind of leery of Divergent coming out on the heels of the Hunger Games… They would have to go above and beyond to beat out Hunger Games at this point, so hopefully it shows promise. Great article, we share some similar sentiments about the blockbusters of this day and age.

Hmm, the show itself sounds interesting. I’ve fallen off of the vampire/werewolf bandwagon since been sooo over done these past few years, but British shows tend to be pretty good. Since you said it’s a successful rendition, it sounds promising. Hopefully SyFy can keep with this trend!

Kingdom Hearts was one of the few games I played over and over again. Will all the sub-games, Square Enix has created an incredibly intricate plot that keeps it appealing to older gamers, I mean I’m 22 and still love to play it, haha. I can’t wait for KH3!! Great article!!
